A forensic interview allows children to tell their story in a safe place to experts who listen to them, protect them and help them to heal. Forensic interviewers are specially trained to ask child victims a series of open-ended, non-leading questions to obtain information in a developmentally appropriate and culturally sensitive manner. Forensic interviews minimize trauma by ensuring that children are able to provide their story of what happened in their own words and to only one adult while other team members observe behind a one-way mirror.
Interviews are conducted in English and Spanish. Forensic interviews are conducted at the Butler Center when the situation does not require the services of the fully collocated Bronx Child Advocacy Center.
