The LEADER Program, nationally recognized with the Academic Pediatric Association (APA) Teaching Program Award in 2023, is a resident-run, faculty-supported initiative designed to cultivate leaders in pediatric care. By providing opportunities for professional development, advocacy, and community service, LEADER empowers residents to take an active role in shaping the future of child health. The program comprises four subcommittees—Recruitment, Community Engagement/Advocacy, Education, and Mentorship—each with a distinct focus yet working collaboratively toward a shared vision. Together, these subcommittees strive to establish LEADER as a national model for fostering academic excellence and a dedicated pediatric workforce committed to serving and advocating for children and families in our communities. With this vision, LEADER at CHAM aims to:
- Equip pediatric residents with the skills and knowledge to advocate for and address community health needs.
- Enhance professional development through mentorship, education, and leadership opportunities.
- Foster a welcoming and supportive environment that promotes excellence in pediatric care.
