Nursing Recognition
Recognizing nurses is essential to fostering a culture of appreciation, resilience and excellence in patient care. Acknowledging their dedication, compassion and expertise not only boosts morale but also reinforces their vital role in improving patient outcomes. Celebrating nurses’ contributions, big and small, creates a supportive work environment, enhances job satisfaction and inspires continued professional growth.
DAISY Award
The DAISY Award was established in 2000 in memory of J. Patrick Barnes, who passed away from complications of idiopathic thrombocytopenia purpura at the age of 33. The DAISY Foundation is dedicated to funding research for immune system diseases, as well as recognizing exceptional nurses around the country through the DAISY Award.
Patients, visitors and employees are encouraged to nominate a deserving nurse.
BEE Award
The Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) recognizes support personnel alongside nurses through a similar honor called the BEE Award. Anyone at CHAM who supports patient care—such as nursing assistants, respiratory therapists, transporters, unit clerks, housekeepers, dietary aides, and nutrition and child life therapists—can be nominated for the BEE Award.
Caring Heart Award
The Caring Heart Award at CHAM is an annual award that honors clinical nurses, nurse educators, nurse preceptors, advanced practice nurses and nurse leaders who exemplify extraordinary compassion, dedication and excellence in pediatric care. This prestigious award recognizes those who go above and beyond to provide exceptional, family-centered care, demonstrating empathy, advocacy and a true commitment to our patients and their families.
