Requirements for Becoming a CHAM Volunteer

CHAM seeks volunteers who meet the following requirements:

Commitment: Volunteers must commit to at least 200 hours of service during a six-month period; for students, at least 100 hours during a summer term. To ensure the volunteer time is productive, individuals should be able to work at least four hours per session.

Age: Volunteers must be 16 years or older. We welcome baby boomers, seasoned professionals, young retirees and older adults.

Screening process: All volunteers are carefully screened and thoroughly trained to ensure the health, safety and privacy of our patients. Potential volunteers must complete an application, provide a video interview, submit required identification and documents, have a health screening with their own physician, and make an appointment to come in to the office of Volunteer & Student Services for onboarding.

We hope that you will consider this unique opportunity to help individuals in need and to become a part of the extraordinary team of volunteers. Please download our Volunteer Application, scan and send your completed form to mehaber@montefiore.org. Your application will be reviewed promptly. After we receive your video interview, if your skills and availability match current needs of the department, we will invite you for an in-person interview with the Child Life team. If you are interested in volunteering at other divisions within Montefiore, please reach out to volunteerservices@montefiore.org.
