Welcome to the Pediatric Residency Program
CHAM is the pediatric University Hospital for Albert Einstein College of Medicine and a major referral for the Bronx, New York City and the surrounding region. Training at CHAM means having the experience to master routine primary care as well as managing high-acuity and rare diseases usually only seen in textbooks. Our graduates pride themselves on a sense of independence and readiness, not just being strong clinicians but also take on leadership in clinical work, advocacy, scholarship or education.
Our pediatric residency welcomes 30 interns per year, allowing for flexibility and a robust experience, while still maintaining a close-knit community of support and comradery. Residents benefit from protected Academic Halfdays, an X+Y+Z schedule and myriad of elective experiences for core training as well as exploring more specialized branches of advanced pediatric care. As a resident at CHAM you will be trained by faculty members who are consistently recognized nationally and internationally for their contributions to the field of pediatrics.
CHAM itself has been ranked among the top 50 pediatric specialty programs in the country in U.S. News & World Report’s Best Children’s Hospitals for the past 16 years and offers excellent exposure to all subspecialty patients in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. The Pediatric Emergency Department has over 50,000 visits per year and we care for approximately 8,000 children admitted to our state-of-the-art facility each year. With ample exposure to patients with high-acuity illnesses, both common and uncommon diagnoses, and leadership opportunities, our residents leave CHAM ready for whatever careers choose.
