OUR EXPERTISE

The nationally-recognized Division of Urology at the CHAM is home to board-certified pediatric urologists and nurse practitioners who are specially trained to diagnose and treat problems that affect children’s urinary tract (including kidneys, ureters and bladder) and genitalia .

Ours is one of the few hospital-based programs in the New York area with a comprehensive onsite urology team dedicated to treating young patients and handling examinations, laboratory or radiology tests, surgery and pre-surgery consultations, all in one place.

Whether your child is having problems urinating, experiencing pain or discomfort from urinary tract infections (UTIs), or in need of corrective genital or groin surgery—we’re here to help. We know it can be confusing or uncomfortable for parents and children to talk to a physician about these issues. It’s why our team of experts always goes the extra mile to provide a welcoming environment for infants, toddlers, pre-teens, teenagers and their families.

SERVICES & PROGRAMS

The Division of Urology at CHAM provides the latest diagnosis and treatment programs for young patients. For the safety and comfort of your child, we may use minimally invasive procedures in case of surgery. These include endoscopy, laparoscopic surgery and robotic surgery.

Most urology procedures for children are performed on an outpatient basis, so your child will return home the same day. Although these do require general anesthesia, our experienced pediatric anesthesiologists safely use these anesthetics every day. We provide families with counseling and a comprehensive packet detailing what to expect before and after surgery.
