Family Advisory Council (FAC)

The Family Advisory Council (FAC) at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore works closely with the doctors, nurses and staff to support a family-centered environment where children and their families feel welcome and are an important part of the care team. Members include adult family members of children who receive care at CHAM and have chronic conditions or special needs, or had acute conditions that required lengthy treatment.

The Family Advisory Council members are partners to promote family centered care. We:

• help create and review information and materials for families.
• give input on hospital programs.
• serve on hospital committees to improve patient safety and quality of care.
• provide opportunities for families to meet and support each other.
• train hospital staff on family-centered approaches to care.
• represent the hospital at national, regional and local conferences and trainings.

If you are interested in joining the Family Advisory Council, please call the Family Learning Place and speak with a staff member. You can pick up an application in person or we can email it to you.
