Learning Objectives
After attending this activity, you should be able to:
- Identify how to prepare and plan in the general pediatric office for life threatening emergencies
- Review and summarize current American Heart Association Guidelines for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Demonstrate office-based procedures for selected minor injuries in children
- Recognize musculoskeletal injuries that can be treated with immobilization
- Discuss principles for the splinting and casting of musculoskeletal injuries
- Define palliative care and describe the hospice benefit for pediatric patients Identify patients who would benefit from referral to a palliative care specialist
- Describe, with examples, the concept of total pain
- Develop key questions that facilitate improved storytelling by patients and their families.
- Recall the numerous attempts by the federal government to address health care financing since the adoption of the Affordable Care Act.
- Appraise the future prospects for Medicaid and compare how the financing options will impact the health and health care delivery for all children in the United States.
- Recognize burnout in yourself, colleagues and trainees.
- Propose life strategies essential to maintaining resilience throughout your professional career.
- Discuss methods to promote wellness in the work environment State guidelines for the prevention of exposure to Zika virus before and during pregnancy
- Discuss outpatient management guidelines for caring for an infant with possible or confirmed congenital Zika Syndrome
- Recognize the pattern of anomalies in Congenital Zika Syndrome
