Quality in Life Team

A community of caring to support your family

In times of uncertainty you are not alone. When your child is facing a life-threatening or life-limiting illness, we are here to support you and your family’s physical, spiritual and emotional needs. We meet with a physician-led team to help you when:

  • your child is facing an illness that threatens his or her life
  • your child is in the hospital on an increasing basis
  • it is becoming harder to care for your child at home
  • treatments are not working or seem to be hurting more than helping
  • you are feeling overwhelmed or are having trouble coping

The Quality in Life Team provides:

  • Advanced pain and symptom management to relieve suffering caused by pain and other problems that arise along your child’s care journey
  • Assistance with complex medical decision making, consistent with your values and goals
  • Honest, frank communication and support whether your child is in the hospital, clinic or at home
  • Hospice evaluation and referral
  • Assists with inpatient care of a life limiting illness
  • Works to help your child and family live life to the fullest each day
  • Support to ease your emotional, social and spiritual concerns
  • Strategies for stress reduction and pain management

When can the Quality in Life Team get involved?
From the moment your child is diagnosed with a condition that threatens or limits their life. We work alongside your primary medical team throughout your child’s care.

Who besides my child can benefit from the Quality in Life Team getting involved?
When a member of your family is sick, it affects the whole family and the community of people that support you. We will work with you, your child, and your child’s brothers and sisters. We can even work with your child’s school.

How can my child meet the Quality in Life Team?
Just ask for us! Find out more from your child’s doctor, nurse, social worker or child life specialist.
