Services & Programs

Pediatric infectious disease physicians at CHAM provide consultation services to both outpatients and inpatients. Some of our specialty programs include:

  • The Vaccine Center provides outpatient information and vaccines for preventable childhood diseases, including measles, pertussis (whooping cough), and mumps. 
  • Our Travel Clinic advises families about how to avoid foreign diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, or typhoid during vacations or trips abroad, and vaccinates children for these and other illnesses before traveling.
  • We work cross-departmentally to diagnosis and manage Kawasaki disease.
  • Our Transplant Clinic protects pediatric patients from infections that may accompany solid organ transplants.

Congenital CMV Specialty Care Center

The Congenital CMV Specialty Care Center at CHAM is one of eleven of New York State's designated multidisciplinary centers for congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV) ID. It offers evaluation and care for infants identified with CMV through newborn screening or referred for CMV evaluation. The clinic provides comprehensive multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment, collaborating closely with Audiology, Otolaryngology, Neurology, Developmental Pediatrics, and Counseling services. Patients also have opportunities to participate in ongoing research focused on CMV disease and its prevention.

General Ped ID clinic

The General Pediatric ID clinic at CHAM offers specialized care for both healthy children and those with complex medical conditions. Services include Outpatient Parenteral Antimicrobial Therapy (OPAT) for infections like osteomyelitis and endocarditis, expertise in managing conditions such as Fever of Unknown Origin and Lyme disease, and tailored diagnostic and treatment options for pediatric infectious diseases.

Immunocompromised ID/Transplant Clinic

The Immunocompromised ID/Transplant Clinic at CHAM offers specialized care for organ transplant recipients and immunocompromised patients. Services include thorough pre- and post-transplant evaluations, infection screening, specialized vaccine counseling, lifestyle guidance, and meticulous patient monitoring to optimize outcomes.

The Montefiore Adolescent and Youth Sexual health (MAYS) clinic

The Montefiore Adolescent and Youth Sexual Health (MAYS) clinic specializes in comprehensive care for pediatric and adolescent populations at risk of STIs, including HIV. Services include STI prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, HIV management, gender affirming care, counseling on safe sex practices, HIV testing, PrEP, and support for sexual health concerns in a supportive environment.

The Perinatal Clinic

at CHAM specializes in multidisciplinary care for infants exposed to infectious diseases during the perinatal period. Services include comprehensive evaluation, monitoring, and treatment aimed at optimizing health outcomes for newborns exposed to infections such as HIV, HSV (Herpes Simplex Virus), syphilis, toxoplasmosis, and CMV (Cytomegalovirus).

Travel Clinic

The Travel Clinic at CHAM and the Hutch offers tailored counseling and vaccinations for travelers heading to Africa, Asia, Central, and South America. Services include comprehensive health risk counseling, vaccinations for yellow fever, typhoid, meningococcal, and COVID-19, as well as advice on malaria prevention and traveler's diarrhea management. The clinic ensures travelers receive necessary protection against region-specific health risks.
