Conditions We Treat

Infectious disease (ID) physicians at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) specialize in the diagnosis and management of a wide range of infections and related clinical problems in children.

The Infectious Disease team at CHAM provides coordinated care to prevent and manage infections in children such as pneumonia, fever of unknown origin, influenza, hepatitis A, B, and C and others. Our physicians work closely with cardiology to provide access to the newest treatments for children with Kawasaki disease. We also specialize in preventing infections that may accompany stem cell or solid organ transplantation and provide medical consultation for foreign adoptess and travel consultation.  

We provide outpatient consultations and follow up for many conditions including:

  • Cat scratch disease
  • Congenital infections including CMV, toxoplasmosis, and others
  • Encephalitis
  • Fever of unknown etiology and periodic fever syndromes
  • Hepatitis
  • Herpes simplex viruses
  • HIV and HIV exposed infants
  • Immunization for travelers 
  • Infections in transplant patients and immunocompromised hosts
  • Infectious mononucleosis and other infections associated with Epstein Barr Virus

  • Osteomyelitis/arthritis (bone and joint infections)
