Research
Original clinical research is the culmination of the education, clinical work, and mentorship provided by the three-year endocrinology and diabetes fellowship at CHAM. Among our faculty are potential mentors for fellows, including those in pediatric endocrinology, adult endocrinology, obstetrics and gynecology, and other departments. Some faculty members are involved in clinical trials, while others have completed a year-long course in clinical research and/or quality improvement.
The schedule for didactics and clinics allows ample dedicated time for fellows to focus on their research in their second and third years. Each fellow meets a minimum of three times with a self-selected scholarly oversight committee to review their research plan, monitor progress, and provide feedback. Fellows are expected to produce an abstract, which will ideally be presented at a national and/or international meeting and turned into a full manuscript.
Previous fellows have won grants and teaching awards. They have given oral presentations and poster presentations at national and local meetings, as well as published case reports, reviews, and original research. Montefiore's Department of Pediatrics hosts a Pediatric Research Day in April where many fellows present their work to their colleagues. We are excited by the research our fellows produce through the rigorous combination of clinical experience, education and research.
Fellows with a particular interest in research may consider the Clinical Research Training Program.
Here are the projects of our current fellows and recent graduates:
