CHAM Adolescent Menstrual Program (CHAMP)

This program is a collaboration between the Division of Adolescent Medicine and the Division of Hematology, Oncology and Cellular therapies. Patients seen in our clinic are evaluated jointly by both adolescent gynecology and pediatric hematology specialists. We provide care for girls with heavy menstrual bleeding as well as girls with menstrual concerns who have a personal or family history of a bleeding or clotting disorder. The goal of our practice is to achieve correct diagnosis and treatment of blood disorders and accompanying menstrual disorders in adolescent girls and young women with von Willebrand disease (VWD), other factor deficiencies, thrombophilias, sickle cell disease (SCD), hemoglobinopathies, platelet disorders and anemias. CHAMP is part of a network of practices throughout the country whose leaders are active in the learning and advocacy activities of the Foundation for Women & Girls with Blood Disorders.
