Conditions We Treat

We understand that a visit to the Emergency Department can be especially worrisome for children and their parents.

To limit stress, our multidisciplinary team of pediatric medicine specialists makes sure children receive immediate evaluation, stabilization, treatment and care. Children receive only essential testing and procedures to limit the time spent in the Emergency Department.

Children come to our Emergency Department with a wide variety of complaints, spanning minor lacerations to critical needs for resuscitation. Emergency conditions and traumas we commonly treat include:

  • Abdominal pain
  • Allergic reactions
  • Asthma
  • Bone fractures and sprains
  • Cuts and lacerations
  • Diarrhea and dehydration
  • Fever
  • Head injuries and concussions
  • Poison ingestion
  • Seizures

We make sure procedures are as pain free as possible for our patients. Our diverse team of child life specialists, customer service liaisons, children protection specialists and pediatric social workers utilize child-friendly techniques to ensure our patients are comfortable.

With 24/7 access to the best pediatric specialists for all subspecialties, pediatric emergency medicine staff can also address many chronic conditions that other area hospitals do not, such as:

  • Asthma
  • Congenital heart problems
  • Endocrinologic disorders, such as diabetes
  • Hematological problems, including sickle-cell disease
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Neurosurgical disorders
  • Oncologic issues
