About CHAM's Facilities

The Pediatric Heart Center at the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) is dedicated to delivering the highest quality care in state-of-the-art facilities designed for children, teens and family members. Our team has recently completed building an outpatient cardiac center at CHAM. This multimillion-dollar renovation enhances our comprehensive services with the latest technology. Keeping family-centered care at the core of our vision, we have incorporated numerous amenities to maximize the comfort of parents and children, as well as optimize efficiency for our team of nationally recognized pediatric heart experts. Specifically, CHAM's new Pediatric Heart Center will include:

  • Spacious, bright offices and treatment suites: The Pediatric Heart Center spans 5,300 square feet on the fifth floor and features the latest in echocardiography and metabolic stress testing equipment and eight examination and testing rooms.
  • Expansive kid-friendly waiting room: Children and teens have high-tech gadgets too! We outfitted our waiting room with play equipment, interactive activities and wireless access for our families.
  • State-of-the-art hybrid catheterization laboratory: The latest technology will be installed into our hybrid catheter-surgical lab to complement our team's expertise and provide your child with the most effective, least invasive treatment options. This laboratory will have the latest in catheter, electrophysiology, echocardiography and surgical equipment housed in 2,500 square feet on the fourth floor of CHAM.
  • Four new echocardiography imaging rooms and added staff: CHAM is expanding imaging rooms and adding staff to ensure rapid diagnostic results for you and your physician.
  • A new cardiopulmonary exercise testing laboratory with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment for the evaluation of your child's cardiovascular and ventilatory systems during exercise.
  • GetWellNetwork: CHAM is committed to making your child's experience as pleasant as possible, and we recognize that interactive patient care plays a significant role in doing so. New to CHAM is the GetWellNetwork, a fully integrated system to keep patients connected to their doctors, favorite websites and friends. Patients can access GetWellNetwork through their hospital room television set with a handheld remote or wireless keyboard. They can immediately offer feedback to administrators about their care, view information about their medications, fill out patient surveys, alert a staff member if the room is too cool or warm, email friends, surf the Web (under parental guidance) and watch movies on demand. It's a powerful tool for improving hospital service and enriching patients' stay at CHAM.
  • Next-generation medical information technology for collaborative care: Our advanced technical resources aim to keep your child's pediatrician and primary care physician (PCP) in the loop. A new telecommunication system will relay up-to-the-minute echocardiograms, diagnostic images and other data to your child's PCP. Video conferencing will allow CHAM experts to consult on your child's care with cardiac colleagues in the region and across the country.
