Pediatric Radiology

Education & Training

In collaboration with Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, the Children's Hospital at Montefiore (CHAM) hosts a year-long fellowship in pediatric radiology. Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), this respected program gives fellows a wealth of rich experience and training, equipping them for a bright career in pediatric radiology. Fellows gain proficiency in virtually all areas of pediatric radiology, while participating in major conferences and cutting-edge research initiatives.

Training

The comprehensive training program prepares fellows to recommend appropriate procedures, interpret results accurately and limit radiation exposure as much as possible. Over the course of one year, fellows acquire experience in all aspects of the field, treating prenatal, infant, child and adolescent patients. Our radiologists provide expert training in an exhaustive range of procedures, including computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), radiography, fluoroscopy, ultrasound, nuclear medicine, angiography and urography.

Along with hands-on experience, fellows will also instruct medical students and residents, learning key communication skills along the way. Throughout all training, special attention is given to treating children with the lowest effective dose of radiation possible, in line with CHAM’s dedication to the Image Gently campaign.

Research and Conferences

Fellows are required to participate in leading research studies with the assistance of a qualified mentor, receiving vital experience and helping the university hospital continue to advance the field of pediatric radiology. Fellows will also have the opportunity to attend and participate in a number of conferences; the fellowship includes funding for one conference week along with a competitive salary and benefits package.
