Psychiatry

Services & Programs

The Pediatric Psychiatry and Behavioral Studies team provides patients with customized, compassionate treatment covering a range of issues, disorders, and illnesses.

Offering both inpatient and outpatient services, we work on a consultative model, supplementing your primary physician with behavioral, emotional, and social support when you and your family need it.

SERVICES

Specialized Care

CHAM’s pediatric psychiatrists and psychologists are equipped to serve all patients, though they also focus on particular health issues to understand the unique challenges and difficulties patients are facing. Our specialties include cancer, blood diseases, cardiac diseases, endocrine disorders, rheumatic diseases, transplants, and gastrointestinal issues. From staying on track with your medication, to consulting with physicians, to developing plans to secure your mental health, we listen carefully to your needs and provide the treatment that fits you best.

Peer Support Groups

When you’re facing a disruptive medical issue, it’s easy to feel like no one understands what you’re going through. That’s why our Psychiatry team developed peer support groups for patients to discuss, share, and consult with others afflicted by the same health problems. We currently run groups for diabetes patients and hematology patients to hear from each other, learn effective coping strategies, and gain a sense of solidarity and strength.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

Our psychologist provides dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) to patients dealing with personality disorders, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and more. This practice is often life saving, helping patients recognize dangerous and ineffective behavior, attain a state of focused mindfulness, and make positive changes through their own agency and power.
