OUR EXPERTISE

CHAM has long been a premier children's hospital for the treatment of gastrointestinal conditions, liver disease, or nutritional concern and one of the leading pediatric GI programs in the nation. Our already robust team of pediatric gastroenterologists and hepatologists is growing, as CHAM continues to attract some of the brightest medical minds in the world, allowing us to offer a wide range of clinical expertise. Paired with our state-of-the-art endoscopy center, our doctors provide greater insight into the diagnosis and treatment of your child's symptoms—whether they're signs of a serious complex disorders, or more routine in nature. 

You can also count on us to put the needs of your child and family at the forefront of all we do during treatment. We focus on our patients —from newborns through young adults—but we know that a child’s health condition can become a quality-of-life issue for parents and other caregivers as well. Services

We provide the expertise needed to treat a number of conditions, including inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease and transplantation, therapeutic endoscopy and short bowel syndrome. Additional services include a range of comprehensive and innovative diagnostic and therapeutic options.  

PEDIATRIC LIVER PROGRAM

The Pediatric Liver Program at CHAM is dedicated to providing the best treatments possible for your child,
while educating and assisting your family every step of the way. Our objective is to maximize liver function, facilitate healthy growth and development and improve the quality of life for every infant, child and
 adolescent we treat.

Our team will explore all potential treatments, both medical and surgical, before determining the best
options. If we find that your child needs a liver transplant, our transplant program is built around a team of internationally renowned surgeons and hepatologists, as well as multidisciplinary healthcare professionals highly specialized in liver disease and transplantation.

Our program’s mission is to provide state-of-the-art, comprehensive, family-centered medical and surgical
care to children with liver disease.

RESEARCH

CHAM_Gastroenterology_Viswanathan_Lab_2013_06_028_316x210_new.jpg Whether at the bench or bedside, our physicians are always seeking innovative solutions to some of gastroenterology’s most pressing problems. We are currently conducting research in areas such as inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, liver transplantation, cellular therapy for liver failure, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, among many others. Our expanding group of physicians also participates in myriad national consortiums and collaborative research studies. As a patient, not only will you have access to the many nationally- and internationally-recognized experts within our division, you will also be able to participate in and benefit from the groundbreaking research being conducting here at CHAM.

Education & Training

The gastroenterology and nutrition fellowship training program at CHAM offers the opportunity to work with a respected team of highly qualified physicians who have made contributions in areas such as liver disease and transplantation, inflammatory bowel disease, therapeutic endoscopy, short bowel syndrome and clinical translational research. A myriad of other research possibilities are also available. This program is based on clinical learning, augmented by didactic sessions and individual teaching/feedback.
