    Personal Biography

    Thomas Havranek, MD, is an attending physician and Associate Professor at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Montefiore-Einstein. His clinical focus is in prematurity, neonatal nutrition, surgical neonate, neonatal respiratory failure and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation.

    In 1991, Dr. Havranek received his Doctor of Medicine from Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic. From 1991 to 1993, he completed a two-year residency in anesthesiology and critical care at Masaryk Medical Center in Ústí nad Labem, Czech Republic. He then attended the Long Island College Hospital, completing a three-year pediatric residency in 1996. From 2000 to 2003, he completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at Children’s National Medical Center, George Washington University.

    Dr. Havranek's research focuses on necrotizing enterocolitis, neonatal nutrition, neonatal hypoglycemia and neonatal circulation. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed journals and shared at national and international meetings. He is an editorial board member of Pediatrics in Review and serves as an ad hoc reviewer for many journals.

    Dr. Havranek is board-certified in general pediatrics and neonatal-perinatal medicine. He is a member of several professional organizations including the Society for Pediatric Research and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
