Personal Biography
Sharib Gaffar, MD, FAAP, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Gaffar’s clinical focus is on invasive pediatric cardiology, involving interventional procedures for diagnostic or therapeutic purposes for patients with congenital heart disease.
After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in genetics from the University of California, Irvine in 2012, Dr. Gaffar completed his Doctor of Medicine in 2017 at Tulane University School of Medicine. He then went to UC Irvine – Children’s Hospital Orange County for his pediatrics internship and residency, which he completed in 2020. Following this, Dr. Gaffar did his categorical fellowship in pediatric cardiology at Mattel Children’s Hospital at the University of California, Los Angeles, graduating in 2023. He then completed an interventional pediatric cardiology fellowship at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in 2024.
Dr. Gaffar’s research focuses on interventional outcomes in patients with congenital heart disease, particularly neonates. He is also interested in the application and utility of artificial intelligence learning algorithms in the long-term management of patients with congenital heart disease. His work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed research papers, book chapters and abstracts, and he has given many lectures and presentations.
Dr. Gaffar is board certified in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
