Personal Biography
Miguelina Germán, PhD, is Director of Pediatric Behavioral Health Services at Montefiore Medical Group as well as Associate Professor, Pediatrics and Associate Professor, Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Her clinical focus is on pediatric anxiety, ADHD, depression and trauma. She has special expertise in postpartum mood and anxiety disorders and providing parental mental health services. Dr. Germán also specializes in the mental health of Latino children and families.
In 2000, Dr. Germán received her Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College. She then attended Arizona State University, earning her Master of Arts in clinical psychology in 2005 and her Doctor of Philosophy in clinical psychology in 2009. She pursued her postgraduate training at Montefiore, completing a psychology internship in 2009, a postdoctoral fellowship in 2010 and a performance improvement certification in 2017.
Dr. Germán’s research investigates many areas: mental health of Latino children and families; trauma-informed care approaches in primary care; and behavioral health treatment programs in pediatric primary care, including HealthySteps and child/adolescent treatment approaches. She has produced extensive work for many peer-reviewed journals, book chapters, review articles and abstracts.
Dr. Germán is board certified and is a member of several professional organizations, including the Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies, the Society for Developmental and Behavioral Pediatrics and the Latino Psychology Association.
