Personal Biography
Michal M. Gombos, MD, is an attending physician, Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore, as well as Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from the State University of New York at Albany in 1983, Dr. Gombos earned her Doctor of Medicine at the State University of New York Downstate in 1989. She completed her internship in pediatrics at Cornell University in 1991, followed by her residency in pediatrics at the same institution in 1993. Following this, Dr. Gombos completed a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in 1995.
Dr. Gombos’s primary research interest involves the diagnosis and treatment of ophthalmologic emergencies. She is also interested in teaching medical students, residents and fellows to become good clinicians and is involved in teaching pediatric advanced life support (PALS) to residents and staff. Her work has been shared through presentations and peer-reviewed publications. She is a peer reviewer for articles in Emergency Medicine International.
Dr. Gombos is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and is board certified in Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
