Personal Biography
Lidija Palezac, MD, is an attending physician and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Palezac’s clinical interests include the management of eosinophilic esophagitis, liver disease, inflammatory bowel disease and celiac disease.
After earning her Doctor of Medicine at the University of Zagreb in Zagreb, Croatia in 2010, Dr. Palezac completed an internship at the University Hospital Center Zagreb in 2011. She later came to the United States to continue her medical training, completing her pediatrics residency at Nassau University Medical Center in 2018, where she was Chief Resident in her final year. Following this, Dr. Palezac completed a pediatric gastroenterology, nutrition & hepatology fellowship at Nemours/Alfred I. DuPont Hospital for Children in 2021.
Dr. Palezac’s research centers around liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease. Her past research has investigated allograft fibrosis in patients following liver transplant and projects to improve vaccination rate and weight management in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. She has been principal investigator and co-investigator on research projects, and has shared her work through peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts and invited presentations.
Dr. Palezac is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and Pediatric Gastroenterology. She is a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition (NASPGHAN) and the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
