Personal Biography
Ioulia Gourari, MD, is an attending physician, Pediatric Pulmonology at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Gourari’s clinical interests focus on treating asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, chronic respiratory failure and sleep-disordered breathing.
After receiving her Bachelor of Sciences in biomedical science at York University in North York, Canada in 2012, Dr. Gourari earned her Doctor of Medicine at St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. George’s, Grenada, completing her degree in 2016. She pursued a pediatric residency at NewYork-Presbyterian, Brooklyn Methodist Hospital from 2016 to 2019, followed by a pediatric pulmonary fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medical Center from 2019 to 2022.
Dr. Gourari’s research investigates how various environmental factors affect children with asthma, recently studying COVID-19 infection, comparing its effects on populations of children with and without asthma. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals and presentations.
Dr. Gourari is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics
