Personal Biography
Hnin Khine, MD, is an attending physician at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore-Einstein. Dr. Khine’s clinical interests include sexually transmitted diseases, pain management and endocrine emergencies.
After receiving her Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from University of Adelaide in 1985, Dr. Khine started her postgraduate training with a yearlong transitional internship in medicine, surgery and pediatrics at North Western General Hospital, Burnie, Australia. In 1988, she came to Montefiore and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, completing a four-year internship and residency in 1992, acting as chief resident in her final year. She then pursued a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, completing it in 1994.
Dr. Khine’s research focuses on Fitz-Hugh-Curtis Syndrome in young adolescent females, fluid management in diabetic ketoacidosis patients and the effects of COVID on pediatric patients. In addition to publishing her findings in peer-reviewed journals, Dr. Khine shares her work through review articles, book chapters, abstracts, invited lectures and presentations. She is a reviewer for Pediatric Emergency Care and Pediatrics.
Dr. Khine is board certified in pediatrics and pediatric emergency medicine. She is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Pediatric Association and the Society for Pediatric Research. She has received many accolades in recognition of her outstanding teaching, including induction into the Leo M. Davidoff Society in 2008 and receiving the Lewis M. Fraad Award in 2019.
