Personal Biography
Hemen S. Muleta, MD, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein (CHAM) and Instructor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Muleta’s clinical focus is on the care of patients hospitalized with common pediatric diagnoses, such as asthma and bronchiolitis. She co-manages pre- and post-operative pediatric patients, and cares for children with complex medical conditions and technology dependence.
After receiving her Bachelor of Arts in public health from Johns Hopkins University, Dr. Muleta attended Harvard Medical School, earning her Doctor of Medicine in 2020. She began her postgraduate training at Children’s National Hospital, completing her residency in 2023. She is continuing her education at Einstein, completing her Master of Science in clinical research methods.
Dr. Muleta’s research focuses on understanding socioeconomic and racial disparities in pediatric health outcomes and implementing evidence-based interventions to improve health equity. Her current research is focused on implementing social determinants of health (SDOH) screening and interventions within the inpatient pediatric setting. She has shared her research through peer-reviewed journals, poster presentations and electronic media.
Dr. Muleta is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics. She is a member of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Pediatric Association.
