Personal Biography
Esther Davis, DO, is an attending physician at Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and Assistant Professor at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Davis has a particular passion for the management of patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Her clinical interests also include management of chronic constipation, celiac disease, eosinophilic esophagitis, IBS and other disorders of brain-gut axis.
In 2008, Dr. Davis received her Bachelor of Arts in neuroscience from City University of New York: Queens College. She pursued her medical education at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of NJ School of Osteopathic Medicine, earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2013. She began her postdoctoral training with a general pediatrics residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals-A.I DuPont Hospital for Children from 2013 to 2016, followed by a fellowship in pediatric gastroenterology at Children's Hospital at Montefiore.
Dr. Davis’ research centers around nutrition and short gut syndrome. Past research has involved looking at the microbiome and its impact on patients with fatty liver disease, as well as quality improvement projects to improve remission rates in patients with inflammatory bowel disease. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals and poster presentations.
Dr. Davis is a member of several professional societies including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the North American Society of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition and the American Gastroenterology Association.
