Personal Biography
Elena N. Kwon, MD, is Director, Pediatric and Fetal Echocardiography at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Kwon’s clinical focus centers on transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography as well as 3D echocardiography.
After earning her Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in Cupecoy, Sint Maarten, in 2004, Dr. Kwon completed her pediatrics residency at the State University of New York (SUNY) Stony Brook Medical Center in 2007. Following this, Dr. Kwon completed a pediatric cardiology fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin Medical College of Wisconsin in 2010 and an advanced non-invasive imaging fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2011.
Dr. Kwon’s research focuses on fetal echocardiography, fetal arrhythmia assessment, and 3D echocardiography in device placement and perioperative guidance. Her work has been published in numerous peer-reviewed publications, books, chapters, review articles and abstracts, and she has given many invited lectures and national and international presentations.
Dr. Kwon is board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Cardiology. She is a Fellow of the American Society of Echocardiography and a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society of Echocardiography, the Fetal Heart Society and the Society of Pediatric Echocardiography.
