Personal Biography
Deepa Rastogi, MD, is Division Chief, Pediatric Respiratory and Sleep Medicine at Montefiore Einstein. Dr. Rastogi’s clinical specialty is in taking care of children with asthma, particularly those with severe or difficult-to-control asthma.
After earning her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery at Ganesh Shankar Vidyarthi Memorial (GSVM) Medical College in Kanpur, India, Dr. Rastogi completed a yearlong rotatory internship in medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology and ophthalmology at the same institution, followed by a two-year residency in pediatrics. She then came to the United States and continued her postdoctoral training, completing a pediatrics internship at The Children’s Medical Center of Brooklyn. SUNY Downstate and a pediatrics residency at Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. Rastogi later completed her three-year fellowship in pediatric pulmonology at Children’s Hospital of New York-Presbyterian, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.
Dr. Rastogi’s federally funded research investigates the mechanisms that underlie obesity-related asthma. She has shared her work through peer-reviewed journals, abstracts, book chapters, national and international conferences and presentations and media appearances. She has also served on the editorial boards of Pediatric Pulmonology and the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and as an ad hoc reviewer for many journals including the New England Journal of Medicine, International Journal of Obesity and the Journal of the American Medical Association, among others. She continues to serve on NIH study sections.
Dr. Rastogi is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatrics and board certified in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology. She is a Fellow of the American Thoracic Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Society of Pediatric Research.
