Personal Biography
Alexis D. Richards, MD, MSC, FAAP, is Medical Director, Eating Disorder Program and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at Montefiore Einstein. Her clinical focus centers on adolescent mental health, gender-affirming care, adolescent gynecology, reproductive health services and eating disorders.
After obtaining her Bachelor of Arts in psychology from New York University in 2007, Dr. Richards earned her Master of Science in the control of infectious diseases at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in London, United Kingdom in 2011. She then moved back to the United States to continue her medical training, completing her postbaccalaureate premedical science certificate at Columbia University in 2012 and her Doctor of Medicine at Emory University in 2015. Dr. Richards completed her pediatrics internship and residency at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center in 2018 and a clinical fellowship in adolescent medicine at the University of California, San Francisco in 2023.
Building on her clinical experience, Dr. Richard’s research focuses on sexual and reproductive health and eating disorders. Her work has been shared through several peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations. She has also been a reviewer for the Maternal and Child Health Journal.
Dr. Richards is board certified by and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She is a member of the Society of Adolescent Health and Medicine.
