Personal Biography
Dardan Demaliaj, MD, MPH, is an attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Assistant Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Demaliaj’s clinical focus centers on children and young adults with brain and spinal tumors. He is specifically interested in treating pediatric high-grade gliomas, expanding clinical trial offerings and utilizing personalized medicine to target patients’ tumors.
After receiving his Bachelor of Science at the State University of New York at Stony Brook in 2011, Dr. Demaliaj earned his Master of Public Health and his Doctor of Medicine at New York Medical College in 2017. He completed his general pediatrics internship and residency at New York University in 2020 and a fellowship in hematology and oncology at the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles in 2023. Following this, Dr. Demaliaj completed a fellowship in neuro-oncology at New York University in 2024.
Dr. Demaliaj’s research focuses on the tumor microenvironment in pediatric high-grade gliomas. He is specifically interested in understanding and targeting microglia, which are important in immune suppression and evasion in cancers of the brain. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. Demaliaj is board certified in General Pediatrics and is a member of the Society for Neuro Oncology.
