Personal Biography
Alvaro J. Coronado Munoz, MD, is a Pediatric Critical Care attending physician at the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore Einstein and Associate Professor, Pediatrics at our Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr. Coronado Munoz’s clinical focus includes the care of critical conditions, with special interest in respiratory failure, shock, multiorgan failure, extracorporeal therapies and life support.
In 2007, Dr. Coronado Munoz earned his Doctor of Medicine from the Universidad Peruana Cayetano Heredia in Lima, Peru. He later came to the United States and pursued postgraduate training, completing a pediatric residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in 2014 followed by a pediatric critical care fellowship at Jackson Memorial Hospital / University of Miami in 2017.
Dr. Coronado Munoz has a research focus in clinical research design, multicenter studies and global research. He has shared his work through peer-reviewed journals, review articles, abstracts, poster presentations, case reports and invited presentations. He is a journal reviewer for Frontiers in Pediatrics, British Medical Journal Case Reports and the Journal of Intensive Care.
Dr. Coronado Munoz is board certified in General Pediatrics and Pediatric Critical Care by the American Board of Pediatrics. He is a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine, the Sociedad Latinoamericana de Cuidados Intensivos Pediatricos and the Education in Pediatric Intensive Care research network.
