Haleema Irene Ahmed has served as Fifth Avenue Committee’s (FAC) Property Management Comptroller for the past six years. In addition, since July 2004 she has concurrently fulfilled the duties of FAC’s Director of Asset and Property Management. Ms. Ahmed came to FAC with a wealth of experience having already worked seventeen years in the accounting and auditing fields, including ten years of auditing experience at KPMG Peat Marwick, Sierra Leone in West Africa, where she supervised a six staffs. Haleema holds a certificate degree from The Association of Chartered Accountant in England and Wales and is a member of the Association of Accounting Technician in England and Wales.
Susan Eliason is the Director of Asset Management for the Delaware State Housing Authority. Since joining DSHA in June 2002, she has been responsible for managing the preservation of affordable multifamily rental housing in the Authority’s portfolio. Her section also provides the onsite monitoring of the physical and financial operations of sites receiving project-based Section 8 subsidy. Previously, she was a senior audit specialist with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation in the Office of Inspector General, working with the acquirers of failed financial institutions. She received her bachelor’s degree from Georgetown University in Washington, DC and a master of business administration degree from Wilmington College.
Stacey Hunter is Asset Manager for Wesley Housing Development Corporation (WHDC) of Northern Virginia. As Asset Manager, Mrs. Hunter has oversight responsibilities for 20 properties, comprising 1,525 units. While Stacey has a total of 13 years experience in the Property Management Field, she has been employed by WHDC for the past six years; three as property manager and in 2003 promoted to the new “Asset Manager” position. Before that, WHDC had no Asset Manager position. Stacey accepted the job, creating the position it is today. To enhance her ability and acumen for the new position and title, Stacey initiated her training through web searching and finding NEIGHBORWORKS. She signed up for her first class “The nuts and bolts of Asset Management.” After attending that class, Stacey returned to her job more enthused than ever. There was no turning back from there. Now, the Asset Management position for WHDC is a very important and integral part of their organization.
Theresa A. McCauley, raised in Louisville, Kentucky, graduated from the University of Louisville in 1984 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. After a 17-year stint as an Executive Director at the YMCA, she decided to change careers, taking a position at New Directions Housing Corporation. As Director of Housing Management, Theresa presided over a $55 million housing portfolio that included over 3000 residents, 1000 units and 100 buildings located in ten designated neighborhoods, eight different police divisions and five different governmental council districts. In 2002 she received that Mayor of Louisville’s Citizenship Award. She is now the Director of Asset Management with the New Directions Housing Corporation.
Judith Kepner Rose joined the New York/PR District of NeighborWorks America in late 2003 as the Management Consultant for Real Estate Development and Property Management. She brings years of diverse experience to the position, having worked in corporate finance, commercial development, banking, and commercial and residential property management. Prior to joining NeighborWorks, she worked seven years as a Senior Program Officer with LISC’s Organizational Development Initiative. At LISC, Judith specialized in the areas of asset and property management and organizational financial management. She is a Global Learning Fellow in Adult Education and worked extensively as a team member in the development and delivery of a broad array of trainings including the CHAM NHMS and the Nuts and Bolts of Asset Management. Judith has a BA in Economics from Moravian College, and a MAR from Yale University Divinity School.
Debbie Spooner grew up in Connecticut and left to attend Aurora University in Illinois where she received at BA in sociology. Subsequent to college graduation she lived and worked in Seattle Washington and on the island of Oahu before returning to Connecticut to purchase and operate a small restaurant in Cheshire. She moved to Denver Colorado in 1985, when she began working at Del Norte Neighborhood Development Corporation after being placed there by Mennonite Voluntary Service. Working alongside Del Norte’s Executive Director, Marvin Kelly, Debbie helped to build Del Norte into a formidable non-profit in Denver. She became the Deputy Director of Del Norte in 1988. Since moving to Denver, Debbie has earned an MSW Degree at the University of Denver and a Colorado Real Estate Brokers Lisence.
